RTI was founded byTyrone “Ty” Timmons Jr., a native of Tampa. He was a two-sport athlete at Tampa Bay Technical High School from 1999 to 2002, as well as an academic scholar. While in high school he participated in two programs that aided him in being successful on and off the field: All Sports Community Service Foundation and Project Upward bound. Both programs gave him the mentorship, academic and athletic nourishment he needed to become a well-rounded student athlete. He earned an athletic scholarship to Mississippi Valley State University in Itta Bena, MS, where he graduated with cum laude honors and received his bachelors of Science degree in the spring of 2007. On the football field, he became the third wide receiver in MVSU’s history to have a 1,000-yard season and was second to Jerry Rice in total yards, catches and touchdowns for his career. He went on to become an undrafted free agent signee to the New York Giants in 2007, and later that year, he signed to play for the Kansas City Chiefs. In 2008, he won Rookie of the Year for the Tampa Bay Storm Arena Football Franchise, and in 2010 he broke the franchise record for the most receiving touchdowns in a season. Aside from his playing days, Timmons has always had a passion for helping young football players. In April of 2011, Timmons founded Resolute Training Inc., and by July of 2012, Resolute Training Inc. had become a charitable tax exempt organization. He created RTI to help student-athletes at middle schools and high schools in the Tampa communities prepare to become well rounded student athletes. Timmons had begun coaching and evaluating players since 2007. He has worked with the National Underclassmen Combine (NUC) from 2007 to 2013 and coached for Tampa Catholic High School from 2007 to 2009. Currently, Ty is the Director of Athletics for a Tampa-based organization called Unsigned Preps. He is also a founder of “The Challenge,” the National Football Association 7v7 IMG Qualifier in April of every year. Giving back was the one thing he wanted to do after his playing days. He realized the importance of mentorship as a program participant in Upward Bound and ASCS Foundation. RTI receives a large amount of support from community programs like All Sports Community Service, Bacchus for Charity, and Unsigned Preps to serve as mentors and to work closely with the program to assist the students with academic and social encouragement.
